About Megan Allen
Born and raised in England’s smallest county, Megan is a proud Raddle[wo]man, who started her career in the junior ranks of the local press with a column called “Rural Rutland”, detailing the stories that were affecting farmers and rural businesses in the region.
After qualifying as a senior news reporter and editor, she changed tack and became marketing manager at a popular heritage farm attraction, where her nose for a good story helped to put it on the national map.
In 2016 she started Rural Roots PR, an award-winning small agency working with rural tourism SMEs, from castles to campsites and farm to fork, to help tell their stories through targeted PR and creative communications.
Megan is a regular volunteer, dedicating as much time as she can to help other rural businesses to succeed through her involvement as a WiRE network leader and sharing her skills with charities and events.
This year she has been nominated for a Rural Business Award in the media and creative businesss sector and in Winter is launching a digital magazine, sharing her passion for tourism through news and reviews from the top rural tourist destinations in the country.
